Angel Food Cake Recipe 2

Learn Tips for making Angel Food Cakes

1 ½ cups egg whites

1 ½ teaspoon cream of tartar

1 cup sugar

1/8 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 cup cake flour

1 ½ cups confectioner’s sugar

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Have a 10-inch tube pan ready; do not grease or flour. Beat the egg whites until feathery; add the cream of tartar. Beat the egg whites until they are stiff, but not dry. Add the granulated sugar a little at a time. Add the salt and vanilla. Sift the cake flour and confectioner’s sugar 3 times; sift into the egg mixture and fold in gently with a whisk or rubber spatula. Put the batter in tube pan and bake for about 1 hour. Invert pan to cool (a glass bottle is good for this). When cooled, frost as desired or leave plain and serve with fresh fruits.
