Chocolate Chip Cake
1 cup chocolate chips
1+1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup milk
1 egg
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Grease and flour an 8 square cake pan.
Mix the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar together in a large bowl. Melt the butter, remove from heat and stir in the milk and egg, beating well. Add to the flour mixture and blend.
Pour into pan and bake 25 minutes. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes and then turn out onto a rack. This would be nice covered in a chocolate glaze or chocolate frosting.
This is an extremely easy cake recipe, so it would be a great one to get a child started on baking!
