Mock Angel Food Cake Recipe

6 large eggs, separated

6 tablespoons cold water

2 cups flour

2 cups sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Have a 10-inch tube pan ready; do not grease or flour. Beat the egg yolks with cold water until thick. Add the flour and sugar alternately. Beat the egg whites until stiff; fold gently into the egg yolk mixture. Add the vanilla. Bake for about 40 minutes. Invert the pan to cool. When cool, frost or leave plain as desired.

Angel Food Cake Frosting Recipe

2 cups sugar

¾ cup water

2 egg whites

¼ teaspoon cream of tartar

Cook the sugar and water to the soft ball stage on a candy thermometer. Beat the egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff. Add the syrup to the egg whites and beat to spreading consistency.
