Sour Cream Chocolate Cake Recipe

2 cups sifted cake flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

¾ teaspoon baking soda

¼ teaspoon salt

1/3 cup shortening

1 cup sugar

2 eggs, well beaten

2 squares (1 ounce each) baking chocolate, melted

½ cup milk

½ cup sour cream

1 teaspoon vanilla

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a tube cake pan.Sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt together. Cream the shortening with the sugar until fluffy. Add the eggs and chocolate and beat thoroughly. Add the sifted, dry ingredients and liquids alternately in small amounts, beating well after each addition. Pour into the prepared tube cake pan and bake for 45 to 50 minutes. Cool in the pan and then turn the cake out onto the serving plate. Drizzle with glaze or dust with powdered sugar.
